"To play golf at the Lake Arrowhead Country Club in the stately
San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California is to be a privileged
visitor passing through a very special place.
For this is a place where bald eagles glide over fairways shouldered
by towering sugar pines and incense cedars. Where you can stop
and listen to the cool winds in the lofty trees, the lapping of
clear water, the superb silence of serenity.
The club of choice for discerning golfers for over 40 years,
LACC is a fully appointed facility with a magnificent tennis venue
and beautifully situated swimming pool and aquatic deck.
Less than two hours from Los Angeles, San Diego or Palm Springs,
Lake Arrowhead Country Club is a mile high oasis of pleasure for
avid golfers, enthusiastic tennis players and joyous families
looking for a relaxing escape from the heat and humdrum of "down-below"
life.
To visit once is to want to stay forever." ~ http://www.lakearrowheadcc.com/
Golf Resources
Golf in Lake Arrowhead dates back to the
early 1930's when the rolling pastureland of Grass Valley was molded
into nine holes of bucolic golf.
In the early 1960's the Lake Arrowhead Development Company (LADCO),
to promote Lake Arrowhead, began updating the original nine-hole
course that had fallen into disrepair. The first phase of the
project was entrusted to Billy Bell, designer of Canyon Country
Club golf course in Palm Springs.
In 1963 a back nine was carved out of the surrounding mountain.
At the same time construction on a new clubhouse in the architecturally
dramatic double A-frame design was begun. Honored guests at the
grand opening of the Club House included Bob Hope, Bing Crosby,
Dean Martin and Tony Bennet.
In September of 1978, the members of LACC purchased the course,
clubhouse and tennis facilities from the then owners, California
Golf, and turned it into the private, member-owned, equity Country
Club that it remains to this day.
