Stadium. Of course, we won’t mention that little football team,
the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, now will we?
Originally, the Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO location was going to be a domed stadium with a rolling roof. It would have housed several sports teams. Back in the late 1960s, this was a big deal in the arena of sports. However, after further study of the blueprint of Arrowhead Stadium, the rising costs of construction and project delays, that plan was discarded. Instead of the Arrowhead Stadium rolling roof scenario, Kansas City officials decided to construct two stadiums – one for the Chiefs and one for their baseball team. The stadium became an open air concept and is still standing the test of time against newer, domed arenas. Arrowhead Stadium Renovations Major renovations have been a long time coming since the first major game played back in 1972. In the early 1980s, a fabric dome was considered for the stadium but was deemed cost prohibitive and impractical. One of those jumbo screens did make its way into the stadium, as well as real grass in the early 1990s. Early March 2006 brought news that the Arrowhead Stadium Kansas City location would be hosting the Super Bowl in the year 2015. The very next month in April 2006, voters in the county approved Arrowhead Stadium renovations in preparation for the Super Bowl as well as the possibility of hosting NCAA Final Four tournament. Arrowhead Stadium renovations + sales tax will cover these activities. The address of Arrowhead Stadium, 1 Arrowhead Drive, will be receiving a facelift in the coming years and will definitely be ready for its Super Bowl date in 2015. Arrowhead Stadium in Review
